El Shaddai 2011
Having just had two weeks holiday our camp at El Shaddai for the last three days of Term 2 seems like such a long time ago! It was a fantastic camp, with some great activities to test students’ thinking, collaborative skills, endurance, persistence and, for some, to overcome some fears.
Everyone participated enthusiastically and encouraged others to do their best. Activities included:
- Archery
- Canoeing
- Raft-making
- Indoor rock-climbing
- Vertical Challenge
- Initiative games
- Screen-printing
- Games
- Reptile session
We also had a very entertaining magic show and went for a night walk.
I was very impressed with the team work I saw and with the way students supported others when they were challenging themselves. I saw some real persistence and was so impressed with one student’s insistence on holding a snake despite her fears that I even held one myself! However, it won’t be a regular thing I can assure you!
Anyway, here are some photos to give a bit of an idea of what went on. Unfortunately I couldn’t be with every group and as we came back right at then end of the last day of term we haven’t had time to share each others’ photos. The reptiles session will be in a separate slideshow as I couldn’t fit in both the faces and the reptiles!
